To connect with tax-anxious Gen Z—the generation that loves horror but 85% of whom feel stress around taxes—we created Undone, a 9-minute psychological horror film that visualizes tax anxiety. Inspired by cerebral horror, the film format allowed us to embody pressure, paranoia, and isolation through cinematic tropes. Ticking clocks evoke looming deadlines; whispers reflect negative self-talk; a vent’s watchful eyes symbolize judgment. The climax—a monstrous receipt box—mirrors an anxiety attack’s intensity. By using horror’s visual language, Undone doesn’t just tell Gen Z they’re not alone—it allows them to relate to and feel seen in the genre they love most.
